We have just returned from a fabulous weekend in the Peak District having been on the Lotus in the Peaks event. Part of the Jules Sturgess Automotive business is track days and car experiences - it is important for us to attend a wide variety of events to network and learn about the different driving experiences available out there. This is certainly one we would recommend.
This was the Midlands Lotus Owners Club main event this year. Lotus in the Peak took place at Peak Rail, Rowsley nr Bakewell DE4 2LF. As usual they had organised early morning runs from various locations, this year to include a shorter, more leisurely run for classic Lotus cars (ie pre 1997).
The early morning meet was filled with excitement and enthusiasm. Departing from Ashbourne in small groups, organised based on the desired driving speed, we drove amongst the stunning backdrop of the peaks in gorgeous July summer sunshine. At the end of this drive we went to a breakfast meeting point where we enjoyed the bacon butties, mingling and catching up with other members. Off then to Peak Rail where all cars were on display and the picnics adorned the grounds. Such a fabulous atmosphere and a perfect way to spend a Sunday.
An incredible turnout from Lotus' owners and enthusiasts from across the country showing off the newer models as well as some beautiful classics.
Peak Rail was the final destination for all to be on show and a picnic enjoyed!
