Everyday life on the roads can be a very harsh environment for your new car’s paint, with flying stones, rock salt in winter, twigs overhanging driveways, even washing your pride and joy can have a negative impact on the paintwork, with grit on sponges and drying cloths leaving unsightly hairline scratches. Not to mention the ever present danger of other road users damaging your car in carparks and the unfortunate increase in vandalism to high end cars in recent years. Jules Sturgess Automotive offers a complete solution to this costly and frustrating problem.
We offer the professional installation of the most modern and advanced paint protection film (PPF) from the most highly regarded manufacturers in the business - Xpel Ultimate Plus.
The film, which is a thin, multi-layer material is the perfect way to protect your paint because it is virtually invisible when applied to the paintwork. It has near perfect optical clarity so will not change the colour of you paintwork. Moreover it does not yellow in, or inhibit UV light meaning the paint until the film will react to UV light in exactly the same way the unprotected parts of the car do (all paint will naturally slightly discolour and fade in direct sunlight over time).
Even before paint protection is applied, the three things that are essential to achieving a flawless, virtually impossible PPF install are cleanliness, light and accessibility. We have a purpose built sealed clean room with:
1. heated HEPA air filtration in the ceiling allowing the car to be worked on in constant warm, filtered air at accurately controlled temperature to optimise fitment
2. spot and strip lights for maximum illumination and surface analysis
3. a scissor lift with flush fit ramps allowing uninhibited access to every panel of the car
We NEVER cut on the car.
Originally developed to protect the rotor blades of helicopters from dust and stone damage during field service during the Vietnam War, it comprises a tough polyurethane support layer that gives it the strength not only to withstand and absorb impacts from stones and other road debris but even to resist being pierced by things like keys and scrapes from bike handle bars in congested areas and a self-healing top coat. This layer is made of gel which will self-heal minor scratches, scuffs and swirl marks naturally over time (dependant on ambient temperature).
The film is cut, on site, from computer generated templates provided by the film manufacturer to allow perfect fitment to the contours and panels of your car. These templates are not set in stone. In-fact Jules extends templates on nearly every installation so that the film can be wrapped into panels making it almost invisible (wrapping into light apertures, fuel fillers and door opening for instance). If your car is not included in our databases, or if you require additional coverage not provided by the template we are happy to discuss a custom fitment or customised template for your individual needs. We have the equipment to produce proper templates and also work with classic cars, which are commonly not templated by the manufacturer.
